Maria Theresia... in dero Knigliche drey Prager-Stdte gehalten; Andertens, Der Erb-Huldigung... Drittens... Ihro Kniglichen Maiestt Kniglich-Bhmischen Crnung . Prague: Carl Franz Rosenmller, [1743]. 3 parts in one volume, 2 o (369 x 231 mm). Engraved frontispiece by Daniel Herz, letterpress general title and 3 part titles, 15 engraved plates, of which 9 large and folding, by Mart. Tyroff, Joh. Andreas Pfeffel, and M.-H. Rentz after Johann Josephus Dietzler, and 6 armorial plates containing 83 coats-of-arms, woodcut head-and tail-pieces and initials, woodcut Bohemian lion device on second title. (Browning to the last 3 folding plates and the armorial plates, two or three short fold breaks, most of the folding plates with borders shaved at top, plate [3] with side borders and artists' signatures also shaved.) Contemporary Bohemian ?publisher's binding of sheep over pasteboard, sides with blind fillet border and central zwischengold stamp of the lion of Bohemia, spine in 8 compartments with cartouche tool also in zwischengold , marbled pastedown endpapers, edges red-sprinkled (worn, spine defective at head and tail, the tools and stamps largely oxidised to black). Provenance : 18th-century note of purchase on front free endpaper, noting the price of the book with its binding ("materia cum ligatura"); Herzog August Bibliothek, Wolfenbttel (library inkstamps on verso of general title and at end). A beautifully illustrated record of the entry into Prague of Maria Tseresa on April 29, 1743, the oath of allegiance to her by the Estates General on May 2nd, and her coronation as Queen of Bohemia and of Hungary on the 12th. The plates are notable for their highly detailed and accurate depictions of Prague. In this copy the splendid entry plates, printed on a slightly thicker paper, are free of the browning that affects the plates showing the oath of allegiance, coronation and banquet. Berlin Katalog 2135 (lacking frontispiece); Lipperheide Sba 29 and Sc 17 (imperfect); Ruggieri 993; Vinet 684.
