QUR'AN COPIED BY FAYZALLAH AL-LAHURI, INDIA, AH 1178/1764-5 AD Arabic manuscript on thin paper, 477ff. plus 4 fly-leaves, each with 13ll. of black naskh on gold-sprinkled ground with black-ruled margins and outer rule, juz quarter divisions in gold and blue marginal medallions, white 'ain in gold medallions marking verses and gold roundel verse markers within the text, sura headings in white on gold ground, opening bifolio with pink, blue and gold illumination, the main text followed by prayers to be read in concluding the recitation of the Qur'an, colophon stating that it was copied by Fayzallah al-Lahuri in 1178, gold stamped leather binding with central medallions reading mehd Qur'an , doublures red with gilt medallion, rebound, slight staining and damages Folio 4 7/8 x 3½in.
