Quinta do Noval--Vintage 1982 The first vintage declared by the new generation of the van Zeller family. Four admiring notes from the mid-1980s. Initially opaque, still fairly deep and very impressive, intense, youthful after five years in bottle; a lot to it: deep plummy fruit with a tannin smell like soft shoe leather, figs and walnuts. Sweet, full-bodied, rich, high extract, excellent length, tannin and acidity. Most recently, as described but beginning to show some maturity. Intense. Good potential. M.B.
