The Latin school in Oldenzaal was founded as early as 1608 and was turned into a gymnasium in 1844. Apparently, there was not a real tradition of awarding school prizes at the Oldenzaal Latin school. Fritsch, 1735 and a re-edition of the famous treatise on international law by Hugo Grotius (1583-1645).
