A "private" silver medal which belonged to a soldier in the 38th Batallion of the Royal Fusiliers (one of the Jewish Legion battalions in the British Army during World War I). [Palestine, 1918]. A 10 Piasters Ottoman coin was used for making this medal. One of its sides was smoothed and engraved with the legend "B. Obermaister", the emblem of the Royal Fusiliers (on its lower part a Star of David with the word "Zion", surrounded by the motto "Honisoit qui mal y pense" [May he be shamed who thinks badly of it]), and the inscriptions "Palestine 5-2-18" and "38th R.F."
