Five Years' Experience in Australia Felix, comprising a short account of its early settlement and its present position, with many particulars interesting to intending emigrants, with illustrations by Henry Hainsselin, from sketches made on the spot by the author, 1st edition, Hamilton, Adams, & Co., 1846, 6 tinted lithographed plates by Hainsselin after drawings by G.H. Haydon, errata leaf after title, and appendix leaf at end, early ink signature of J. Blackall to front pastedown, original blindstamped dark blue cloth, upper cover with title lettered in gilt, rubbed and some marks, some light fading to spine and edges, 8vo Ferguson 4305. Coles 617. Includes an early account of the settlement at Port Philip, as an account of a journey overland from Westernport to Gipp's Land, as well as a chapter on the 'aboriginal inhabitants', including illustrations of a warrior, and Yonki Yonka, a native of Westernport enslaved by some early sealers, with whom he lived for 7 or 8 years, becoming fluent in English.
