President's Office stationery, with original envelope , A fine letter to his college friend, the poet: "I have been so busy...that I have not had an opportunity to express my very affectionate thanks for your article in the World's Work. It gave me all too great credit and certainly put my life and work in as handsome a light as any man could desire, but the gratification I derived from it was due...to the evidence it gave of your own confidence and trusting friendship. It really touched me, my dear fellow, very near the quick that you should be so generous in your estimate of, Your devoted friend. " -- HARDING, WARREN G. Typed letter signed in full as President to Dan Sutherland, Washington, D.C., 11 December 1922. 1 page, 8vo, integral blank, White House stationery , "...I have discussed the proposed program with Secretary [Albert B.] Fall [convicted in the Teapot Dome scandals in 1929] and think favorably of it." -- TRUMAN, HARRY S. Typed letter signed in full as President to Emil Hurja, Washington, D.C., 7 March 1946. 1 page, integral blank, 8vo, White House stationery , commenting on some Lincoln correspondence: "I do appreciate most highly your thoughtfulness in sending me the autographed letter of I. Brown Hovey of Independence, Missouri to President Lincoln, asking for the appointment as Federal Judge. He certainly did go to the 'meat' of his communication immediately. It would be nice if just a lot of people would do that." -- TRUMAN, [ELIZABETH VIRGINIA] BESS WALLACE.
