OF WAR, Washington, D.C., 12 August 1867. 1 page, 4to. On his first day as Sec. of War, Grant brevets Orville F. Rogers a Capt. "for faithful and meritorious services during the war." Appointing Stephen Longfellow "Collector of the Customs for the District of Machias in the state of Maine." -- JACKSON, A.
