Washington for $20 payment for one year “hire of Negro woman Letty & Children” George Lafayette Washington was the grandson of George Steptoe Washington, the favorite (though wayward) nephew of President Washington, who supported him and paid for his education. Both George Lafayette and Drew owned plantations near Charlestown (later in West Virginia) but also apparently had homes in Harper’s Ferry (of John Brown fame). Drew himself was descendant of a Virginia lawyer who was also well-known to the first American President. Lot Amendments Condition: Very good. Item number: 276136a
