Beschreibung:

An. autograph letter to the composer Christopher Le Fleming and his wife Phyllis.
Castle Cottage, Sawrey, Ambleside, December 22, 1937. 2pp. of a single 8vo sheet, written in ink and signed Beatrix Heelis (her married name), likely enclosed with a Christmas card to Le Fleming (missing). She enquires after their son ("How are you and the little man? Has he begun to play the piano?!! Does he take notice of his Daddy's music?") and hopes that Christopher is composing. "My powers of invention are asleep!" she admits. "It has been rather a worrying season, though a lovely summer and long lingering autumn, which has ended in most severe winter…Beautiful in the sunshine, but so hard for the sheep." Within a cloth folder. Condition: light crease mark at center, small mark caused by a paper clip. A delightful and refreshingly affectionate letter to the composer who provided the music for The Peter Rabbit Music Books for Pianoforte (London: J. & W. Chester; Frederick Warne, 1935).
