Illustrated by Charles T. Howard. 8vo, original lavender pictorial cloth, lettered in purple and gilt, t.e.g. FIRST EDITION. A short article for The Beatrix Potter Society Newsletter (No. 62), Judy Taylor mentions a letter by Potter to Warnes written in March, 1929, which refers to a request by Norah Mary Edmondson for Potter to send a drawing of violets to be used in her book. Potter complied and it is now believed that the small drawing of violets on the "Contents" page is by her. [With:] LONG, WILLIAM J. Brier-Patch Philosophy. By "Peter Rabbit." Boston, 1906. Illustrated by Charles Copeland. 8vo, original pictorial gilt green cloth, t.e.g. Here Potter has "contributed" the pseudonym of the author -- AIKEN, GEORGE D. Pioneering with Wildflowers. New York, [1946]. 8vo, original light brown cloth. The dedicatee of this book is Peter Rabbit; the dedication reads: "Dedicated to Peter Rabbit in the hope that flattery will accomplish what traps and guns have failed to do and that the little rascal will let our plants alone from this time on."
