Postal History. A collection of early British postal history, including an early banking letter, 1809 to Messrs Coutt's & Coy Bankers, another below dated 1809 containing 42 transfers from Glasgow to Royal Bank, Edinburgh, presented on card and typed descriptions, together with 11 further sheets all similarly presented including an example of the sealing of the letter sheets usually with banks crest, with an 1854 cheque beneath which would pass daily through the postal system, an example of an Irvine numbered obliterator, early 1844 type, the cover stamped on the opposite side with Irvine 1849 despatch mark and Kilmarnock 1849 arrival mark (red ink), 2 sheets displaying Victorian postcards used by the Foreign Mail circa 1892 and public and business postcards issued at Somerset House 1872, various sheets including blue envelopes 1879, details printed inside flaps 1855/56, letters and envelopes used by banking companies 1866, 1890, printed letter sheet from the Derby & Derbyshire Bank, Belper 1846 and others (Qty: 12)
