POST MEDIEVAL SWEDISH 'CRONHIELM AF FLOSTA OF UPPER SAXONY' FOB SEAL MATRIX 17th-18th century AD A cut steel chessman seal matrix with round section short shaft and pierced handle with circular loop; the oval face with intaglio heraldic shield quartered arms over a maltese cross and depicting a pale bearing a helm within oval medallion at centre, the shield quartered alternately with spread-eagle and with fess with two stars above and one below, surmounted by a count's ancient coronet, with suspended order below, for the Cronhielm af Flosta family (originally of Upper Saxony); with inked collector number to reverse and a note of identification. 22.20 grams, 35.75mm tall (27.67mm face) (1 1/4" (1")). Very fine condition. Provenance From a significant private English collection of seal matrices, formed over the past 35 years.
