Portraits of Nasser ad-Din Shah Qajar , engraving and chromolithograph prints on paper [Paris, 1860-1880] 2 sheets, comprising: (i) portrait of the Shah standing with this son, possibly a young Mozzaffer ad-Din, engraving by Janet Lange, for the Journal Universel , excellent condition, 360 by 260 mm .; (ii) chromolithograph of the Shah on horseback, smoking a ghelyoun, by Lemercier & co, Paris, 340 by 240 mm.; both in modern card mounts, framed and glazed The first of these images shows Nassir ad-Din Shah Qajar with his favourite page-boy, nick-named 'Aziz ol-Sultan' (the darling of the Sultan) and 'Malijak Ma'ruf' (the famous princeling), a travel companion to the Shah who was often dressed in matching uniforms and outfits as depicted here.
