Each number 1 of 30. * Os Sertoes by Euclides da Cunha. Four prints, image size 32.5x50.5 cm. Titled and signed in pencil in lower margin. Two of the prints are matted. Three are number 1 of 30, the fourth is an Artist's Proof. * Dom Quixote. Three prints, image size 31.5x51.5 cm. or the reverse. Titled and signed in pencil in lower margins. One of the prints is matted. Each number 1 of 30. * An untitled portrait (possibly a self-portrait). Image size 48x33.5 cm. Signed in pencil in lower margin. Together 11 woodcut prints, all by the final print on tissue, a few matted. All dated 1967. The prints housed together between the wooden boards of a custom portfolio, woodcut illustration on front and the artist's name carved into wood at lower right, the original leather straps now largely perished. Also included is a two-page handwritten biography, in Portuguese, of Oliveira titled "D.J. Oliveira - seus temas, suas xilogravuras". Signed at the close but the author's name is not legible to us. J. D. Oliveira (Dirso José de Oliveira) is considered to be the father of the arts in the state of Goias, Brazil, for his many public works that include murals, fountains, and sculpture. He was professor of Drawing and Engraving at the School of Fine Arts of the Catholic University of Goiás. Some of his most noted works are large public murals done in ceramic panels. He is listed in the Dicionario Biobibliografico Regional Do Brasil by Mario Ribeiro Martins, with his engravings and paintings represented in many museums world-wide. Lot Amendments Condition: A few of the prints darkened (most notably those that are matted), one with some wrinkling and light soiling at lower corner; overall very good to fine. Item number: 212315
