Beschreibung:

Platinum, Natural Pearl and Diamond Sautoir, Tiffany & Co. Platinum, the long five row mesh pearl necklace centering a fancy-shaped pierced diamond-set section centering one pear-shaped diamond approximately 1.00 ct., joined by a line 6 small old European-cut diamonds, suspending a drop-shaped natural pearl* approximately 22.0 x 13.26 x 13.20 mm., capped by rose-cut diamonds, completed by a diamond-set clasp, signed Tiffany & Co., circa 1915. Length 27 inches. With GIA report no. 21057746666 stating that the pearl is natural, saltwater, no indication of treatment. Natural pearls have been treasured since Antiquity, found in the clean waters of the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and the Indian Ocean and take in excess of ten years to form. Royalty through the ages have adorned themselves and prized their collections of pearls, becoming a symbol of wealth and power. As the Industrial Revolution created new wealth, the popularity and desire for pearls spread to the bourgeoisie, representing the ultimate in refined taste. The Edwardian and Art Deco era ushered in a refreshing change in women's fashions and exploration of new found freedom and independence. Pearl sautoirs, necklaces, pendants and earrings became the sought after adornment to enhance the new style of dress. As the waters have become polluted, the availability of natural pearls has diminished. The pearl pendant is a sublime example of nature at its finest, exhibiting a graceful symmetrical shape, lovely color and wonderful luster. The Collection of Hugh J. Grant and Lucie
Drop pearl: Whitish, slightly silvery; good luster; minor dimples; beautiful symmetry; solder repair at pendant loop, pendant detachable. Length of pendant 1 3/4". Pearl mesh in good condition. Pear-shaped diamond: G, SI2; medium open culet. Clasp signed Tiffany & Co. Length of pendant: 1 3/4"
