Cette planche a été dessinée par François Walthéry sous la direction de Peyo. Le cirque Bodoni est librement inspiré du cirque français Bouglione, qui plantait chaque automne son chapiteau place Flagey à Ixelles. En octobre 1969, Peyo et Walthéry souhaitant se documenter sur le monde du cirque, furent accueillis par Sampion Bouglione pour visiter la ménagerie et les coulisses du cirque. The character in the striped suit called Choesels is a caricature of Peyo. Walthéry states "I drew it as a surprise, and he was very amused!". This strip was illustrated by François Walthéry under the aegis of Peyo. Le Cirque Bodoni is freely inspired by the Bouglione French Circus, which would set up its big top each year in Ixelles at Place Flagey. In October 1969, Peyo and Walthéry wanting to find out more about the world of the circus, were welcomed by Sampion Bouglione to visit the circus zoo and behind-the-scenes. Peyo wanted to seek information for the production of this album, something which was quite rare in his career, so as to ensure he stuck very close to the reality of this highly secretive world.
