Circa 1860's -1870's Indian tanned buffalo robe with painted pictographs of horses. In good condition with some paint fading. The style of horses compares strongly with Pawnee robes in several museum collections. The horses without riders with saddle blankets indicate gift horses, a status symbol among the Pawnee.
