Patrick Marsh (b.1943) Still Life with Green Glass, Orange and Tea Caddy Oil on canvas, 43.5 x 33.5cm (17 x 13.25'') Signed and dated 2010 Patrick Marsh was born to an Irish mother and Polish farther in London, 1943. Patrick studied at the Ruskin School of Arts in Oxford and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, but took up an academic post teaching French at UCD in the 1970's. He continued painting while teaching and decided to devote himself full time to his art in 2004. Patrick acknowledges the particular influence of Vermeer, Chardin and Morandi on his work. Although he sometimes paints portraits, still life is his field of predilection as he considers that it is a domain which gives him a special freedom of choice in terms of shape, colour and form. In Dublin, where he now lives and works, his paintings have been exhibited at the Ib Jorgensen and European Modern Art Galleries and he also has exhibited at several galleries in France.
