Brown cloth chemise and slipcase, brown morocco spine, upper cover and spine lettered gilt. The Quartering Act of 1765. A significant cause of heated unrest in the American colonies, this Act stipulated that the expense of quartering the British army in North America was the responsibility of the colonies; but the colonies refused to comply.
