Oblong 4 o (236 x 305 mm). 12 etched and engraved plates by GABRIEL HUQUIER (1695-1772) after Gillot, including pictorial and allegorical title. (A few small marginal tears, some browning and foxing.) l8th-century vellum (rubbed, joints cracked). Provenance : two sets of manuscript annotations (18th and 19th century). RARE COMPLETE SUITE of Gillot's Commedia dell' Arte scenes, including two from "Tombeau de Maître André" (a comedy by Brugière de Barante), one from "Arlequin grapignant" (comedy by Evaristo Gherardi) and two from "Arlequin empéreur dans la lune" (comedy by Nolant de Fatouvill); the last two plays were created at the Hôtel de Bourgogne.
