Mounted on 20th-century album leaves (465 x 325 mm) with multiple gilt and green-wash borders, in 18th-century French gold-tooled red morocco, dentelle border of drawer handles and floral pointillé on sides, spine decorated in compartments, gilt edges, (spine of binding defective at head and foot, some other wear). FINE SERIES of 18 watercolors, the majority HEIGHTENED WITH SILVER. The costumes (country, butterflies, putto heads, Chinese, Turkish) and stage props (vines, torch, key) seem to indicate these charming figures in specific ballet/opera roles. Extremely well preserved, the colors entirely fresh.
