Title: Panoramic silver photograph comprised of five individual images of the dirigible Graf Zeppelin when docked at Lakehurst, New Jersey Author: Metz, H. Place: New Jersey Publisher: Date: 1928 Description: The five images include: Graf Zeppelin in Hanger; Graf Zeppelin, Radio Room; Graf Zeppelin Damaged Fin; Graf Zeppelin Sleeping Berth; Graf Zeppelin Passenger Cabin. Overall size approx. 20x112 cm (8x44"), framed under glass. Rare panoramic printing on single sheet of photographic paper of five images of the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin, a German-built and -operated, passenger-carrying, hydrogen-filled, rigid airship which operated commercially from 1928 to 1937. The LZ 127 was completed and launched in September 1928 and christened Graf Zeppelin by Countess Brandenstein-Zeppelin on 8 July 8, 1928. In October 1928 the Graf Zeppelin made its first intercontinental trip, 6,168 mi, 111-hour crossing from Friedrichshafen to Lakehurst with Dr. Eckener in command. A copy of this photograph is in the panoramic photograph collection of the Huntington Library. The photographer, H. Metz, whose copyright notice is in the negative of each of the images, was the official Zeppelin photographer.
