Each leaf approximately 3x34 cm (1¼x13½"), with manuscript in black ink on rectos and versos of each leaf, initial and final leaves blank Very attractive palm leaf book in East Asian script (possibly Burmese), Palm leaf books originated with the Buddhist tradition in India about 1200 years ago and were dispersed to the rest of South Asia and Southeast Asia after the Islamic invasion of India in the 12th century. Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear and rubbing to wooden covers, with multiple miniscule round dents/holes (possibly insect damage); some slits and wear to edges of first few leaves; very good.
