Dns.) extremely fine (2) £140-180 Footnote George Richardson lived and enlisted at Doncaster. Serving in the Yorkshire Dragoons Yeomanry (Queen’s Own), he died of wounds on 27 October 1918, aged 24 years. He was buried in the Kezelberg Military Cemetery, Flanders. He was the son of John H. and Ellen Richardson, of 1 Carr Avenue, Doncaster. With a letter to Mrs Richardson from G. W. Jefferies, 3 A.C.C.S.., E.F.F., dated 29 October 1918, ‘Dear Mrs Richardson, You will be grieved to hear of the death of your son Pte. G. Richardson 175667. Your son was admitted to our hospital 27.10.18 suffering from severe wound of L. Leg. Blood poisoning had set in, & they had to amputate the leg, hoping that by doing so, his life might be saved. But he was past our help & died at 6 p.m. that evening. He had very little suffering. Your son asked me to write to you & to give you his love, & tell you not to grieve for him. ....’; with envelope addressed to ‘Mrs Richardson, 1 Carr View Avenue, Balby, Doncaster’.
