A pair of potmetal campaign mantel clocks featuring the busts of William Jennings Bryan and William McKinley from the 1896 campaign. The McKinley dial features the likeness of a $20 gold piece marked Sound Money 1896, while the dial on the Bryan declares Free Silver 1896. A plaque at the bottom front also says 16 to 1, while the corresponding plaque on the McKinley reads Protection, Prosperity. The back of the Bryan clock is marked Pat. Sep. 22. 85., other pat. applied for, while the back of the McKinley clock is marked Pat Oct. 28, 1902, patents pdg. Both stand approx 15" tall.
