Britannia Depicta or Ogilby Improv'd; Being a Correct Coppy of Mr. Ogilby's Actual Survey of all ye Direct & Principal Cross Roads in England and Wales, 4th ed., 1724, engraved title, 4 pages of map index, 273 uncoloured engraved strip road and county maps printed back-to-back, and a folding engraved map at rear, entitled A Pocket Companion of ye roads, of the South Part of Great Britain, called England and Wales, by John Pryer, one leaf close-trimmed to fore-margin (page 199), page 215/216 with short closed tear to lower margin without loss, generally in clean condition, early ownership signature of James Campbell in brown ink to rear endpaper and early bookplate of Reverend Soan, Rochester to rear pastedown, additional later 19th century bookplate to front pastedown and 20th century ownership signature to front endpaper of John Sawyer, contemporary full calf gilt, a little rubbed and some minor marks, small 4to. Chubb CL. Fordham, pages 18-19. Cox III, 545. Phillips 5203. The folding map by Pryer, and published by Thomas Bowles bound in at the end, is an unusual addition. (1)
