Contemporary Austrian straight-grained red morocco by Georg Friedrich Krauss, covers with roll-tool border of large dots, Greek key pattern, and a flowery garland, flower head at each corner, gilt spine compartments with the repeated monogram of Albrecht von Sachsen-Teschen within a sunburst, green morocco lettering-pieces and green morocco onlays between double raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Provenance : Herzog Albrecht von Sachsen-Teschen (limitation leaf, binding and shelf-labels). NUMBER 47 OF 103 LARGE-PAPER COPIES, PRINTED AND BOUND BY KRAUSS FOR HERZOG ALBRECHT VON SACHSEN-TESCHEN; STILL IN THE FINEST CONDITION. Although the binding is unsigned, its neo-classical style epitomises the work of the Viennese binder, Georg Friedrich Krauss, who was active between 1791 and 1824. The borders are identical to those on Albrecht's copy of Ohsson's Tableau général de l'Empire Othoman (Paris, 1787-1820), sold at Sotheby's, Schaefer sale IV: The Hans Fürstenberg Collection, 7 December 1995, lot 466).
