Oblong 8vo, dark brown crushed levant morocco, covers with gilt- and blind-tooled panels enclosing central gilt-hatched arabesque cartouche, spine similarly panelled and gilt, turn-ins gilt, edges marbled and gilt, by MASSON-DEBONNELLE, joints weak, extremities a bit rubbed, approximately 11 plates with marginal repairs, about half at platemark affecting image or engraved verse, a few small marginal rust-holes, lightly washed and pressed, occasional slight discoloration . FIRST EDITION, engraved title, engraved dedication within engraved border depicting animals, 134 unnumbered engraved plates (one dated Cologne 1604), each with four lines engraved verse, by and after Crispin van de Passe, a few after Maarten de Vos, and Goltzius.
