GenIchiro Inokuma (1902-1993), a great master in modern Western-style / abstract expression painting in Japan and abroad. He studied under Takeji Fujishima at the Tokyo Art School (Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) and was joint founder of two art groups: the Jotokai in 1927 and the Shinseisaku-ha Kyokai in 1936. Some 70 of his most fully-realized works are shown, mainly from his New York period when he produced many masterpieces. The Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art in Hamamachi Marugame-City Kagawa, Japan, was established in his honor, housing many of his works as well as offering workshops.
