Unique and expressive portrait sketch of German physicist Albert Einstein by his friend Josef Scharl Scharl appears to have made several different pen-&-ink portraits of Einstein in 1950; and another portrait dated 1946 is also known. One of Scharl's portraits of Einstein was ultimately used by the United States Postal Service for a 1966 U.S. commemorative 8-cent postage stamp. When Scharl died in 1954, Einstein wrote the eulogy which was read at his funeral. Einstein died a few months later art age 76. Lot Amendments Condition: Light mat-burn around the edges, image fine, the signature of Einstein clear and distinct. Item number: 289237
