Beschreibung:

The current dominance of the ‘race replica’ among mainstream road-going motorcycles kicked off more than 30 years ago with the arrival of the very first Suzuki GSX-R750. Within just a few years, if you didn’t want a fully faired sportster that looked like it had been plucked straight from a World Superbike grid, then tough luck, there was very little else on the big-bike market (Harleys excepted, of course). But not everyone wanted to spend their time in the saddle contorted into a spine-bending racing crouch, while others looked back fondly to the time when motorcycles had ‘proper’ handlebars and engines on display, rather than hidden behind acres of plastic. Never slow to miss a marketing opportunity, the Japanese manufacturers responded with a ‘new’ class of ‘naked’ or ‘retro’ models, one of the first being Honda’s CB Seven Fifty, a designation that paid homage to the first CB750 of 1969, arguably the first modern ‘superbike’. Launched in 1992, the new CB possessed all the hallmarks of the modern ‘retro’: tubular steel frame, twin shocks and an air-cooled engine. Based on that of the old CBX750 (notable for its use of maintenance-free hydraulic tappets) the latter was re-tuned with the emphasis on flexibility rather than top-end power. The suspension was basic in its range of adjustments (in keeping with the spirit of the 1970s) while the triple disc brakes and 17” wheels were two welcome concessions to modernity. Finished in its original copper/orange livery, this pristine, German-registered example has enjoyed only one owner and covered 13,000 kilometres from new.
