on piece 12c Black (17), large margins to cut in, used with 1c Blue type IV (9), 3c Dull Red (11) and 10c Green type III (15), singles, all with large margins to cut in, red grid cancels, used on 1856 John Fremont Presidental Campaign cover (front only) to Vicarage Athboy, Ireland with engraved Fremont portrait at top left (Putnam Brothers imprint), matching red "New 19 York Aug 27" exchange h.s., blue Dublin receiving transit, this cover (front) paid the 24c British Mail rate to England, carried by the Cunard Line's steamer Canada, since it is impossible to confirm the use of these stamps on this cover (front), it is offered strictly "as is", but placement of the stamps is consistent with the very high placement of the address, very fine appearing, if correct and verifiable, a fantastic four-color usage to England photo
