The Just Vengeance of Heaven Exemplify'd in a Journal lately found by Captain Mawson, (Commander of the Ship Compton) on the Island of Ascension. As he was Homeward-bound from India. London: printed for J. Jenkins, sold by the Booksellers and at the Pamphlet-Shops, [no date but 1730?]. 8° (194 x 120mm). Engraved frontispiece. Modern half speckled calf gilt by Sanford. Provenance : Henry Carlisle Tuttle (armorial bookplate). The journal of a sailor 'All Wrote with his own Hand, and found lying near the Skeleton', marooned on Ascension. The entries run from the 5th May 1725 until his death on 1st September of the same year. ESTC t29328. And 9 others on St Helena ([A. EARLE.
