That is why his conceptual painting so easily and naturally accepts, and at the same time connects such disparate lines of development in Russian art as nineteenth-century realistic painting, landscape painting in particular, and the avant-garde of the 1910s and 1920s. Vassiliev develop like a photograph, bringing back the constantly disappearing divine reality, forcing the human optic, the eye, to acquire the mobility and gravitation of experience.
