O'CONNELL, DANIEL AUTOGRAPH POEM SIGNED, TO MADAME VOIDEL on the cause of the Irish Liberation, six lines, 1 page, 4to, mourning stationery, integral blank, 1 May 1837, autograph envelope, poem and envelope neatly edge-mounted to pages of an exercise book, togther with articles and engraved portrait of O'Connell "Oh Ireland! shall it ere be mine,To Wreak thy wrongs in battle line?To raise my victor head and see,Thy hills, thy dales, thy People free?That glance of bliss is all I craveBetween my labours and my grave." O'Connell gave these inspirational lines to a number of well-wishers. Charles-Victor Prévot, vicomte d'Arlincourt, the French novelist wrote in The Three Kingdoms (1840) of being given a copy of these lines during an interview with O'Connell.
