Roosevelt, Washington, D.C., 10 February 1969. 1 page, 4to, 87/8 x 6¾ in., White House stationery, neatly mounted, matted and framed. NIXON EXTOLLS FDR: "YOUR FATHER WAS A GREAT PRESIDENT" A letter in which Nixon (a staunch opponents of many of the programs initially launched under Roosevelt's New Deal) concedes Roosevelt's stature as a President: "Dear John, This is just a note to thank you for your February 5 letter. Your father was a great President, and the imprint of his thought and his work is as often visible today in our newest and most innovative programs as in the many activities first undertaken during his Administration. I should think myself remiss in my duty both to his memory and to my own appreciation of his achievements if I did not continue to have the President's wreath laid on his grave on his birthday"
