New-York: Hugh Gaine, 1764; 1766. 2 volumes. Folio (14 ¼ x 9 inches, 360x230 mm). Modern half calf. Condition: Scattered foxing and browning, minor chips and edge tears to the Index leaves in volume 2. Provenance: William Rhinelander, 1753-1825 (contemporary signature on the volume 2 title page); New York Historical Society (early inscription on the title with a later inked withdrawn stamp). gaine's first government printing job and the largest issue from his press. This copy with the Appendix leaf at the end of the first volume, generally lacking. The early owner of this copy William Rhinelander, was a prominent colonial New York merchant. Evans 9756 and 10418; Sabin 53719.
