Set of unused dust jackets for the 39 Oz Books.
Chicago: Reilly & Lee Co., [1941-1963]. Color lithographs. (Each 225 x 555 mm). Condition : rolled. Provenance : gift from the publishers to Fred M. Meyer. The books listed on the back flaps of the dust jackets end with Scalawagons of Oz (1941), Magical Mimics in Oz (1946), The Shaggy Man of Oz (1949) or The Hidden Valley of Oz (1951); the prices on the jackets vary from $2.00 to $2.75. Notable among these designs are the updated ones Neill drew for Ozma of Oz and The Emerald City of Oz in 1930; also included is Dick Martin’s rare original jackets for The Visitors from Oz (1960) and Merry Go Round in Oz (1963) with his later jacket for the 1989 reprint. Included are two jackets for Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz: altered Neill design without Dorothy listing titles through Ojo in Oz (1933); and a later updated design by an unknown artist listing titles through The Shaggy Man of Oz (1949). [With:] Seven unused cover labels . Chicago: Reilly & Lee, [1919-1934].
