Acquired by the consignor in May 1984 during a chance encounter with Neil Armstrong at Shaker Run Golf Course, located in Lebanon, OH, where Armstrong lived for a number of years. The lot also features a personalized Titleist 1 golf ball stamped Neil Armstrong on one side and Pro Trajectory 90 on the other. According to a specialist from Titleist, the Pro Trajectory 90 model golf ball was manufactured from 1979 to 1987 and had a wound golf ball construction at this time. While golfing at Shaker Run in May 1984, within weeks after meeting the astronaut and obtaining his autograph, the consignor discovered Armstrong's personally-used ball in the weeded area to the right of the first hole. Accompanied by a notarized, handwritten letter from the consignor, attesting to the provenance of the items. Condition: Signature is strong; golf ball clean and stamp is strong.
