(Family Dog) Near complete run of Family Dog Postcards Place Published: San Francisco Publisher: Family Dog Date Published: 1967-68 Description: 120 Family Dog color postcards. Varying sizes, generally 17.5x12.5 cm (7x5"). Includes: FD 43-147. (With 2 variants of 131). FDD 2, 5-8, 10, 11-15, 17 (Denver Shows) FDW 2, 3 (Winterland shows) Light Up With the Flamin' Groovies advertising card [c.1968] A rare, near complete run of Family Dog postcards, comprising FD 43-147. FD 1-41 were handbills, and after number 41, the handbills were replaced with postcards. The only card lacking from the main series of San Francisco shows is FD 42. Type C of 131 is included here, which is a double-size card featuring the images from both 131 and 132. Many of the iconic images from the golden era of San Francisco rock are present, including works by Victor Moscoso, Alton Kelley, Stanley Mouse, Rick Griffin, Wes Wilson, et al. The Family Dog Numbered Series includes 147 numbered posters that advertised Family Dog shows—primarily at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco—from 1966 to 1968. There are also numbered posters for shows produced by the Family Dog in Denver and Portland, as well as unnumbered posters and handbills associated with shows produced by the Family Dog in San Francisco in 1969 and 1970. Condition: Varying degrees of generally light wear and toning; occasional pinholes to corners or tape residue to back sides, some with mailing addresses, a few minor tears, etc.; all pieces very good or better.
