The partially printed document, number 19836 issued by the Saarbrucken office of the Gestapo, being a notarised copy of Heinrich Himmler's directive to S.S. General Kaltenbrunner regarding Cardinal Theodor Innitzer and the anti-Catholic demonstrations following the Anschluss. The document stating, in part, 'Further investigations into participants in the demonstration is unimportant and has to be put on hold…' however, further informing that the Cardinals personal protection is paramount and that, 'A martyrdom of this gentleman is undesirable' concluding that all measures for police activity at the anticipated demonstrations are to be arranged by Gauleiter Burckel. Below the directive is a list of those that would require a copy, including the Chief of the Security Police, the Chief of the Order Police, Reichsleiter Bormann and General Bodenshatz. To the foot the document has been certified using the official Reichsfuhrer-SS hand stamp and signed by Sauer as witness. With four file holes to the left edge, minor age wear and light creasing.
