Gamble, 3 vols., August 1880 to November 1883, approximately 240 completed leaves, in a neat hand, listing daily courses, duties and reports, weather and temperature, detailing visits to South America, the Falklands, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Canada, and the Caribbean, some 80 pen, pencil, ink and watercolours of maps, views, equipment, guns, diagrams etc., a few loose manuscript notes, hinges reinforced, original black calf, folio, together with Journal and Note Book for the use of Junior Officers, for H.M.S. Inflexible, 1st Cruiser Squadron, January 15th, 1909 [-October 30th 1910], and on board H.M.S. Hibernia, January 20th-December 2nd, 1910, made by John J. Tryon, ink manuscript with seventeen pen, ink and watercolour technical drawings and maps inserted, original half buckram, some soiling and wear, folio. The first three logs are by Edgar G.H. Gamble, midshipman, who according to his loose manuscript account of his service, served 40 years in the Royal Navy, from 1878 to 1918, later promoted to captain, and last serving on H.M.S. Canopus, a pre-dreadnought battleship in 1917. (4)
