Autograph music manuscript signed of the song "Kathleen Mavourneen!," dated at end Baltimore, 25 November 1887 (first composed 1835). 6 pages, folio, notated in ink on rectos and versos of ruled staff paper with 12 staff lines to the page, paper lightly browned, last page tipped to a larger sheet. Written for presentation to First Lady Francis Folsome Cleveland, wife of the 22nd President. The first page headed "Author's Transcription... Revived for, & Inscribed To The Honourable Mrs. Folsome Grovener[ sic ] Cleveland, Washington, D.C. Poem by Mrs. Crawford, Music by F. Nichols Crouch, F.R.S." Piano-vocal score with full text underlay, signed at end. [ With :] Two autograph letters signed, one to Hubert Maine, the other to Francis Cleveland, both Baltimore, 15 April 1879 and 25 November 1887, together 5 1/2 pages, folio , the first answering numerous questions pertaining to the composition and performance of "Kathleen Mavourneen!," the second presenting the manuscript of "Kathleen Mavourneen!" ("The world renowned ballad... after the old English model...") to Mrs. Cleveland. Crouch (1808-1896), an English musician and composer, settled in Baltimore in 1849 and is best remembered for the popular song "Kathleen Mavourneen!"; together 3 items . Rare. (3)
