MUHAMMAD BIN SULAYMAN AL- JAZULI (D.1465 AD): DALA'IL AL-KHAYRAT OTTOMAN TURKEY, LATE 18TH CENTURY A renowned prayer book in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, Arabic manuscript on paper, 109ff. plus 11 fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of black naskh script, with gold roundel verse markers with polychrome highlights, headings within illuminated cartouches, text within red and black-ruled gold frame, opening bifolio heavily illuminated in gold and polychrome, with two further headpieces, diagrams, hilyeh and two original depictions of Mecca and Medina, one panel with probably added signature of 'Abdullah bin Hilmi and date of AH 1175, later ownership notes to fly-leaves with dates of early AH 1200s, in stamped and gilt binding, Text panel 3 ¾ x 1 7/8ni. (9.5 x 4.8cm.); folio 6 ¼ x 3 7/8in. (15.8 x 9.8cm.)
