Movie Script.- Withnail and I Rare script for the first draft of the iconic British movie 'Withnail and I, signed on front page by writer Bruce Robinson ('For Anno's Africa, Bruce Robinson') and leading actors Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann, some age-related wearing and soiling, 4to, 1981; with original prop wine bottle from the movie (2) ***This is the first draft of the script, which Robinson wrote in 1981. The original ending matched the novel and saw Withnail dying by suicide by pouring a bottle of wine into the barrel of Uncle Monty's shotgun and then pulling the trigger as he drank from it. In the final version of the script, Robinson changed the ending, as he believed it was "too dark". PROVENANCE: All the items in the lot were donated by friends and supporters of UK charity Anno's Africa and signatures were specifically obtained to raise funds. All proceeds will go in support of their projects in Kenya and Malawi
