Scherer, No. 22870, circa 1849 With gilt-finished cylinder movement, the gold dial with Roman numerals on blank chapter ring, finely engraved floral decorated centre, blued steel moon-style hands, in small circular case with finely engraved vermicelle decoration, a shield-shaped cartouche with engraved V and the Royal crown to the reverse, the inside with engraved inscription To Victoria from her loving parents Albert & Victoria, R. Nov. 21, 1849 , together with a short length of gold chain and gold Breguet-style ratchet key in form of an arrow, cuvette signed by retailer, movement signed by maker 30 mm. diam.
