MOULE, Thomas. The English Counties Delineated; or a Topographical Description of England , London: George Virtue, 1837. 2 volumes, 4° (270 x 205mm.). Engraved portrait of William IV, 2 engraved additional titles, engraved frontispiece plate of Canterbury Cathedral and 62 hand-coloured maps and plans, some folding. (2 maps with repairs on verso, occasional light spotting and browning, some light offsetting). Contemporary green diced calf, spines gilt with lettering-pieces. (rubbed, some scuffing). Provenance : George Oakley Fisher (bookplates). FIRST EDITION. Chubb CCCCLXXII: "A splendid work." DALTON, William Hugh. The New and Complete English Traveller: or, a new historical survey and modern description of England and Wales , London: Alexander Hogg, 1794. 2° (380 x 235mm.). 69 engraved maps and plates only (lacking map of Wales, faded frontispiece and map of Yorkshire repaired, title with upper margin cropped just touching headline, minor marginal tears and repairs, a few small holes in text, occasional light spotting and dampstaining). Modern calf-backed boards. (A few scuff-marks). Provenance : Jane Smith and crossed-out cut signature on verso of frontispiece. Chubb CCLII: "Practically the same as the New British Traveller by Walpoole. The legend 'Engraved for Walpoole's New and Complete British Traveller' and the ornamental portion of the borders have been erased from the plates containing the maps. They still bear the original imprint, and 'T. Conder sculp' is added to all the plates except Berks and Somerset which has no engraver's name, and Cornwall and Devon which has 'Hatchett sculpt'".
