MOTOR CARS 1968 DAIMLER 420 SOVEREIGN SALOON Registration No. NRU 439G (see text) Chassis No. 1A 33424BW Engine No. 7A33766-8 Green with cream leather interior Right hand drive The 420, or Sovereign as the Daimler version was called, was introduced in 1967 and like the S-type, it benefitted from the independent rear suspension first fitted to the E-type, but with the enlarged 4.2-litre engine, 245bhp at 5,500rpm. The Sovereign is identified by the quadruple headlights, the grill shape from the Mark X and a similar body shape to the S-type, it was in comparison to the Mark X more elegant and less bulbous in appearance. This original example had one lady owner from 1974 until 1991 and has a full service history with Jaguar/Daimler specialists during this period. It is possible that this lady was the original owner. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 1991 and took the Sovereign to Guernsey where it was used for wedding hire. It has recently returned to the UK and should be able to retain its original registration number. It is an automatic version and while it has not been put through an MoT test it is said to be in good running condition and comes with its original operating, maintenance and service handbook. NO RESERVE
