Beschreibung:

A Fine Collection of the Artist's Work 1964-1987.
Comprised of approximately 200 individual pieces including original prints, books in limited edition of his best known work , most containing original and/or limited graphics, the collection seeks to present in depth the development of Moser’s woodblock artistry. The proof and working copies of many titles and a superb gathering of the artist’s more ephemeral works (event announcements, menus, illustrated envelopes, etc.) contribute interesting material often lost or very difficult to gather. The present collection can truly be said to represent the first two decades of this remarkable artist’s influential output. Highlights include: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. West Hatfield: Pennyroyal Press, 1985. -- Collection of Twenty Nature Studies and other prints. -- Collection of Sixty-Two Event Announcements. -- Thirteen Botanical Wood Engravings… -- Collection of 37 original prints and broadsides. -- Collection of Nineteen Portrait Themed Prints. -- The Death of Narcissus. -- Gold Rush Engravings. -- Homage to Mondrian. -- Frankenstein. -- The Robber Bridegroom. -- Diary of a Young Girl / Het Achterhuis. -- The Scarlet Letter. -- Men of Printing. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1940, Barry Moser began his early studies with Leonard Baskin and transformed his own work into the foremost examples of wood engraver’s art in the late 20th century. He joins Rockwell Kent and Lynd Ward as the most expressive and interpretative of the modern woodcut artists. His work is represented in major institutions such as The National Gallery of Art, The Metropolitan Museum, The British Museum, The Pierpont Morgan Library, The Vatican Library, and Harvard, Yale and Dartmouth Universities. Detailed list available upon request.
